Artifact Overview
Kate Herron loved wearing colorful socks -- whether store-bought or those she knitted herself. To help save her unique and memory-filled collection while extending their useful life, she repaired them. Kate used an embroidery technique called "needle weaving" to create the plaid and striped designs as she mended these socks. Mending isn't just a practical choice, but an opportunity for creativity.
